About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space Systems Sector is seeking aspiring Systems Engineering Leaders to support its rapidly growing space vehicle design and production programs within the space superiority and warfighting division. This role focuses on large space-based systems critical to national security. The position can be filled in Dulles, VA, or Gilbert, AZ, and is 100% on-site, not supporting remote work. The Deputy Lead Systems Engineer will assist in leading the space segment technical team, contributing to systems analyses, trade studies, and coordinating engineering activities through baseline management, interface management, and requirements/verification & validation management. Opportunities for stretch assignments include supporting integration & test campaign development and execution, subcontractor technical oversight, cost account management, and preparing SE material for program reviews. This role requires self-direction based on prior experience and involves advising junior staff under the guidance of the Lead Systems Engineer and Chief Engineer.

Requirements

  • B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 5 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 3 years of experience (for Level 3)
  • B.S. in STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, Math or related area and 8 years of experience; M.S. in STEM or related area and 6 years of experience (for Level 4)
  • Must have active Top Secret clearance with ability to obtain SCI clearance at time of application
  • Technical experience in systems engineering and integration of complex systems
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills and technical presentation experience
  • Understanding of spacecraft detailed design, integration & test
  • Must be Proactive. Works under only general direction. Independently determines and develops approach to solutions

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in leading the space segment technical team
