About The Position
Skokie's Place for All Children in Extended care (SPACE) is a before, and/or after school childcare program that takes place in cooperation with Skokie School Districts 68, 69, 72, 73, and 73.5. Programs run at the various school locations. We presently have school site Director openings for the 2026/2027 school year. Our part-time staff receive a free membership to our health club, Fitness First along with other facility usage benefits.
Requirements
- Must be a mature, energetic, responsible adult with strong communication, organizational, presentation and leadership skills
- Must possess a High School diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Must be able to obtain and keep current CPR and AED certifications
Nice To Haves
- Prefer two years experience leading groups of children in a recreational or educational setting
- Supervisory experience is a plus
- Prefer an individual with at least 2 years of college credit in Education, Social Work, Child Development or a related field
Responsibilities
- Supervision of staff
- Planning and supervising program activities
- Insuring the safety of the participants
- Maintaining all necessary paperwork and attendance records
- Issues newsletters and other written program information to the parents of participants
- Provides a program that meets the needs of the program participants, and is safe for the participants
- Training and evaluation of assigned program staff
- Leads groups of children in games, sports, arts and crafts, music, drama, playground time, homework help, and many more organized activities
- Maintains a complete inventory of all program supplies and replenishes and requests needed supplies on a timely basis
- Conducts weekly staff meetings and issues meeting minutes to attendees and supervisor
- Attends monthly Director meetings and other meetings and trainings as requested
- Maintains an open line of communication with the SPACE Program Manager and requests assistance and guidance as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
