About The Position

As an Space Operations Assessment Analyst supporting a critical national security space warfighting mission, you will help translate operational realities into actionable outcomes — assessing what's happening now, shaping what comes next, and ensuring the force is ready for both. Serving within the Plans & Strategy Division, you will support current and future operations, cyber effects integration, and exercise assessment activities that strengthen the protection, resilience, and employment of vital space capabilities. In this role, you will sit at the crossroads of operations and analysis — evaluating mission performance in real time, assessing the effectiveness of ongoing and planned activities, and capturing insights from exercises and real-world events to drive continuous improvement. You will work closely with Intelligence Community (IC), Department of Defense (DoD), and interagency partners to inform decision-making, assess threats, and advance effects-based operations against adversaries targeting critical national security systems. The ideal candidate is an experienced space operations professional with a strong background in current/future operations, cyber domain awareness, exercise design and assessment, and interagency collaboration who thrives in a fast-paced, mission-focused environment.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 12 years w/o a degree or 10 years with AS/AA or 8 years with BS/BA or 6 years with MS/MA or 4 years with PhD
  • Background in current operations, future operations, or operational assessment within a joint, CCMD, or national security space environment
  • Experience supporting or assessing exercises, training events, or operational readiness activities
  • Familiarity with cyber domain operations, cross-domain effects, or cyber-space integration concepts
  • Working knowledge of effects-based operations, threat assessment, and lessons learned processes
  • Experience collaborating with IC, DoD, and interagency partners in a mission-focused environment
  • Active TS/SCI with polygraph required

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a current operations or future operations cell at a joint headquarters, CCMD, or national security agency
  • Familiarity with Adaptive Planning and Execution (APEX), JOPES, or Joint Planning Process (JPP) as applied to current/future ops activities
  • Experience designing, executing, or assessing large-scale operational exercises or tabletop events
  • Understanding of space domain threats, adversary behavior patterns, and Indications & Warning (I&W) frameworks
  • Exposure to cyber effects integration, collection management, or cross-domain operational planning
  • Familiarity with national security space systems, mission assurance concepts, and agency-level operations

Responsibilities

  • Assess the effectiveness of current and future operations, mission systems, and procedures — identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities to improve operational performance and mission outcomes in near-real time
  • Support future operations planning by developing and refining courses of action (COAs), operational criteria, and TTPs that optimize effects-based operations across the space and cyber domains
  • Integrate cyber effects considerations into operational assessments and future operations activities, ensuring space mission systems account for cyber threats, dependencies, and cross-domain impacts
  • Design, support, and assess exercises and training events — capturing lessons learned, evaluating force readiness, and translating findings into actionable procedural and capability improvements
  • Analyze and document lessons learned from exercises, real-world operations, and contingency events to drive continuous improvement across operations, training, and mission assurance
  • Monitor and assess evolving terrestrial, space-based, and cyber threats — including adversary patterns of behavior, collection priorities, and operational risks — to inform current and future operations decisions
  • Advise on the integration of emerging Indications and Warning (I&W) systems, cyber tools, and collection capabilities into current and future operations workflows
  • Identify intelligence, operational, procedural, and capability gaps impacting mission effectiveness and provide recommendations to leadership
  • Support collection management activities and provide operational expertise to optimize mission effects against threats to agency assets
  • Coordinate and provide support for operational working groups, exercise planning conferences, and senior leader engagements
  • Collaborate with government, military, intelligence, and interagency partners to ensure unity of effort, operational continuity, and mission readiness
