Modern Technology Solutions, Inc. (MTSI) is seeking a Space Cyber Security Engineer (Senior) to support the Narrowband Satellite Communications (NBSC) program at Space Systems Command (SSC) in San Diego, CA. This professional requires computer science and Cyber Security engineering experience to support the design, development, integration, test, and sustainment of cyber solutions, defensive and offensive for the Mobile User Objective System (MUOS) program. MUOS is a United States Space Force (USSF) narrowband military communications satellite system that supports a worldwide, multi-service population of users in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) band. As a Space Cyber Security Engineer (Senior) with MTSI, you will support the NBSC program at SSC. The Cyber Security Engineer (Senior) will improve and oversee Risk Management processes required to maintain Authorization to Operate (ATO) including strengthening vulnerability management, Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M) tracking, continuous monitoring, execution of Annual Control Validations, and execution of other risk-reduction tasks. In addition, the Cyber Security Engineer (Senior) will ensure alignment between engineering operations, Information System Security Managers (ISSMs), Agent of the Security Controls Assessor (ASCA), and Authorizing Officials (AOs) to streamline critical decision-making processes, uphold mission readiness, and effectively manage oversight requirements throughout the program. Furthermore, the Cyber Security Engineer will be leading the MUOS contractor Cyber Team as the Key Personnel (KP) and A&A Team Lead with MUOS program Government Cyber Security Lead oversight, input and direction. MUOS is a USSF narrowband military communications satellite system that supports a worldwide, multi-service population of users in the ultra-high frequency (UHF) band. In this position, you will provide Advisory and Assistance Service (A&AS) to SSC for procurement of additional satellites, ground systems and follow-on capability to the MUOS program. Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to: Assist the MUOS Program Government Cyber Security Lead as the A&A Lead and KP in managing and overseeing tasks assigned to Information Systems Security Engineers (ISSEs) and System Security Engineers, scheduling, and ensuring that the team successfully completes all objectives and security best practices for Risk Management Framework (RMF) requirements. Provide oversight into Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities to ensure consistent compliant RMF execution across all MUOS systems. Address increasing system complexity due to evolving Department of War (DoW) Cyber Security requirements. Work high-visibility, mission critical aspects of programs and performs all functional duties independently- oversees and responsible for efforts of subordinates. Perform System monitoring and verify the integrity and availability of hardware, network, and server resources and systems. Review System and application logs and verify completion of scheduled jobs, including system backups. Assist network modeling, analysis, planning, and coordination between network and data communications hardware and software. Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy—oral and written.
