About The Position

Astrion is seeking an intermediate level Analyst to support Missile Defense Agency's (MDA) Director of Test (DT) Flight Test Directorate (DTF) in support of the test planning and execution of the Space Based Interceptor program. Our MDA engineers work in modern, well-appointed government facilities on Redstone Arsenal located in Huntsville, Alabama. Huntsville, known as Rocket City, USA, is the hub of missile and space operations, research and development. You will collaborate with other missile defense experts – military, government civilians, and contractors from Astrion and other companies. Our team of experts helps the Government manage planning, development, analysis and delivery of state-of-the art sensors, weapons, communications, and command/control systems. You will be part of the team that conducts successful intercepts of target missiles by one of our Missile Defense System (MDS) weapon systems. The SBI intermediate analyst will provide programmatic, technical, and analytical support to the Missile Defense Agency, Director for Flight Test Mission Performance (DTFP). The position requires a highly motivated individual who can conduct pre-mission analysis, flight test design and provide mission execution support. Some travel is required (up to 20%) and may include overseas locations.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in a field pertinent to the position being filled. 5 years of additional relevant experience may be substituted for the BA/BS degree requirement
  • 7 years relevant experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain at least a Secret security clearance
  • Experience with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) organization and Missile Defense System (MDS) designs, performance and testing
  • General knowledge of industry standard trajectory/radar/optical prediction codes
  • Understanding of waveforms, polarizations and applications for radar data
  • Experience with MATLAB, Python, Java, and/or other programming languages
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite of tools

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of post-flight Best-Estimate-Trajectories (BETs) of critical trajectory objects via integration of available truth data from telemetry, radar, and optical sources
  • Develop predictions for flight test data collection platforms
  • Perform model and data analysis to include object characterization, monte-carlo trajectory simulation and trajectory data fusion to assist in post-flight test reviews
  • Prepare and present pre-flight and post-flight truth data planning and results
