About The Position

To ensure that all products are produced to meet specifications and established standards required by the customer and the company. This position involves operating production machinery, performing maintenance, and contributing to team-based operational improvements. The role requires adherence to Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives, including quality and security standards, and understanding the impact of individual actions on these systems. The operator is expected to perform other duties as necessary to support business objectives and is encouraged to be creative and proactive within their function.

Requirements

Must have the ability to make good decisions.
Must have the ability to communicate effectively with others and leadership team.
Troubleshooting machines.
Basic mechanical and computer literacy.
Standard waterproof gloves, sleeves, hearing protection, slip resistant footwear, safety glasses, lock out lock, hasp and tag.

Nice To Haves

Preference for poultry or food processing organization.
Military experience is valued.

Responsibilities

Responsible for daily set-up and operation of the production machine.
Enter product code by hand.
Operates machine to production standards.
Performs preventive maintenance and inspects equipment on a regular basis.
Performs basic light maintenance on the machine.
Assists Maintenance Mechanics with troubleshooting activities as needed.
Properly adjusts production machines to ensure efficiency, quality and accuracy with minimal loss of product.
Maintains accurate inventory of supplies needed to operate the machine.
Handwritten documentation of product specs and bag usage.
Participates as a member of the Team, fostering strong cohesiveness and reinforcing actions needed to achieve synergy.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies) and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Communicates concerns and improvement ideas regarding operating systems.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
