About The Position

Seaboard Foods LLC is seeking a Sow Farm Supervisor in Julesburg, CO. This role involves supervising a sow farm and its personnel, ensuring daily tasks are completed, production targets are met, and farm employees are managed effectively. The supervisor will oversee animal selection and breeding practices to enhance production efficiency and animal quality, ensuring the proper care and conditioning of sows. Responsibilities include directing swine breeding and raising, supervising disease identification through swine examinations, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures, and maintaining facilities. The position requires meeting daily and weekly production targets, collecting and recording production data, submitting analysis reports, and managing farm supply orders. Additionally, the supervisor will monitor breeding and grading for safety compliance, create employee work schedules, approve timecards and time-off requests, and maintain personnel records including performance evaluations, while providing feedback. Note that this role does not have hire/fire authority.

Requirements

  • Two years of swine production experience.
  • At least one year of management duties on a swine farm.
  • Experience following detailed standard operating procedures.
  • Experience managing four or more animal caretakers for sow farms.
  • Experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing.
  • Experience training in vaccination and artificial insemination in swine.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and sometimes push/and or move up to 300 pounds.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise a Sow Farm and related personnel including day-to-day tasks of the farm, ensuring production targets are met, and supervising farm employees.
  • Manage the research and control of animal selection, breeding practices to increase production efficiency and improve animal quality.
  • Ensure the care and conditioning of sows on the farm.
  • Direct the breeding and raising of swine using recognized breeding practices.
  • Supervise swine examinations to identify diseases.
  • Ensure standard operating procedures are followed and facilities are in good working condition.
  • Meet daily and weekly production targets.
  • Collect and record production data.
  • Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner.
  • Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs.
  • Monitor breeding and grading to ensure adherence to safety regulations or standards.
  • Create and manage employee work schedules.
  • Revise and approve timecards and approve PTO, holidays, and sick days for employees.
  • Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations, and provide constructive and timely feedback to employees.
