Sow Farm Manager
About The Position
The Sow Farm Manager will oversee the daily operations of the farm, ensuring production targets are met and supervising farm employees. This role involves training employees, developing a competent workforce through hands-on methods, creating work schedules, and maintaining personnel records including performance evaluations and feedback. The manager will also conduct farm audits to ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and proper facility maintenance. Key responsibilities include meeting daily and weekly production targets, submitting timely production analysis reports, ensuring the well-being and conditions of sows, and ordering farm supplies and maintenance items. This position does not have hire/fire authority.
Requirements
- Two years of swine production experience
- At least one year of management duties on a swine farm
- Experience following detailed standard operating procedures
- Experience managing four or more animal caretakers for sow farms
- Experience in all processes of swine production from gestation through farrowing
- Experience training in vaccination and artificial insemination in swine
- Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift up to 100 pounds and sometimes push/and or move up to 300 pounds
- Good written and oral communication skills in English

- Create and manage employee work schedules
- Maintain accurate personnel paperwork, including performance evaluations
- Provide constructive and timely feedback to employees
- Perform audits of the farm to ensure all standard operating procedures are being followed
- Ensure facilities are in good working condition
- Ensure that all daily and weekly production targets are met
- Complete and submit production analysis reports in a timely manner
- Ensure the care and conditions of sows on the farm
- Submit orders for farm supplies and maintenance needs
