About The Position

The Southern Region Re-Entry Manager is a regional position responsible for the supervision of the Re-Entry Correctional Assessment Specialists in the southern region parole offices, as well as coordination of risk assessments and case management for individuals on mandatory supervised release. This position will also be responsible for meeting with employers in the community to assist in workforce development opportunities for individuals nearing release or individuals on mandatory supervised release. This Position will be actively involved in the expansion of re-entry services at IDOC facilities in the central and southern part of the state. The ideal candidate should be well versed in criminal justice reentry work, able to work collaboratively with community stakeholders and be able to develop working relationships with employers and local workforce areas and other state agencies. Statewide travel will be required as part of this position. This position would be an excellent fit for someone passionate about re-entry, case management and workforce development. Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years college preferably with courses in psychology, social work, behavioral or social sciences, or a related field
  • Requires three (3) years of progressively responsible administrative experience in the social sciences field with direct experience in one of the following areas: mental health, substance abuse, or medical discharge planning
  • Of the three (3) years' experience requires three (3) years supervisory experience in a program related field
  • Requires ability to pass the IDOC/IDJJ background check
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen.
  • Requires ability to travel in the performance of duties, with overnight stays as appropriate.
  • Requires appropriate, valid driver's license
  • Requires ability to carry and use a state cell phone
  • Requires ability to carry and use a state laptop
  • This position has been found to meet the requirements in section 4A-101 of the Illinois Governmental Ethics Act requiring the occupant/employee to file a Statement of Economic Interest.
  • Required to utilize digital technology, tools, platforms, and processes in managing and supporting various digital enhancements for greater efficiency, productivity, and digital transformation efforts within the department

Nice To Haves

  • Prefers a Masters’ degree or higher in psychology, social work, behavioral or social sciences
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of professional work experience in risk assessment
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of professional work experience in case planning
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of work experience identifying and connecting individuals to community-based treatment
  • Prefers at least three (3) years professional work experience in work force development
  • Prefers at least two (2) years of professional experience in policy and procedures relating to reentry services
  • Prefers at least three (3) years of work experience in a correctional setting

Responsibilities

  • Serves as the Southern Region Reentry Manager
  • Monitors linkages and referral relationships between the Department of Corrections (DOC) and local community-based organizations, primary care providers, community mental health/developmental disabilities centers, state agencies, substance abuse programs, and adjunct service providers to ensure continuity of care after individual in custody is released from DOC
  • Administers regional reentry services and workforce development strategies
  • Monitors risk assessments and case plans completed for individuals on Mandatory Supervised Release (MSR)
  • Serves as full-line supervisor
  • Participates in committees and meetings as they relate to reentry services
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above
