About The Position

Sodexo is seeking a Sous Chef at Moravian University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. This role involves leading culinary operations to deliver high-quality, diverse menus across campus dining venues, including resident dining halls, retail locations, and premium catering events. The Sous Chef will collaborate with the culinary team to enhance the student dining experience, foster a welcoming community atmosphere, and support special campus events and traditions.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar culinary leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation guidelines.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, late-night kitchen environment.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work well under pressure.
  • A passion for food and innovation, with a customer-focused mindset.
  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent experience

Nice To Haves

  • Culinary degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Manager in overseeing daily kitchen operations, ensuring efficient service and smooth workflow.
  • Lead and support a team of kitchen staff, including mentoring and training to ensure optimal performance.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking for multiple stations, ensuring consistent quality and presentation.
  • Monitor inventory levels and assist in ordering supplies, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently with minimal waste.
  • Ensure adherence to all food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Contribute to menu development and recipe creation, keeping the offerings fresh and appealing to customers.
  • Work with front-of-house supervisors to ensure a seamless customer experience.
  • Oversee production of grab-and-go packaged foods and ensure timely deliveries to other campus locations.
  • Manage kitchen operations during peak periods, adjusting workflow and delegating tasks as necessary.
  • Assist with catering, special events, and any additional food service needs.
