The Optimist, located in Nashville's Germantown neighborhood, is seeking an enthusiastic Sous Chef to join their team. This role involves managing hourly back-of-house staff and assisting in the daily operations of the kitchen, including production, prep, special events, stewarding, purchasing, and receiving. The Sous Chef will ensure food is prepared and presented correctly and in a timely manner, demonstrating a strong understanding of various cooking methods and preparation techniques. This position requires the ability to lead the kitchen effectively in the Executive Chef's absence, maintain a cohesive team, delegate efficiently, and work calmly under pressure. The ideal candidate will have a drive to be a natural leader.
