About The Position

PARC Retirement Living is seeking a Sous Chef to join their PARC Food & Beverage team at Oceana PARC in White Rock. The PARC dining experience is fast-paced and service-oriented, with cuisine that rivals the best. As a Sous Chef, you will be responsible for creating an incredible dining experience for residents and guests, overseeing food preparation, managing the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, and assisting with menu planning and execution. You will also collaborate with kitchen staff to maintain a clean and efficient workspace, assist with receiving and storing deliveries, monitor inventory, and train junior kitchen staff. The role involves preparing and serving residents at proper temperatures and in appropriate portions.

Requirements

  • Culinary diploma or equivalent experience working as a Sous Chef or similar role in a reputable restaurant or culinary establishment.
  • Food Safe Level 1 certification.
  • WHMIS certification.
  • Skilled leader.
  • Excellent communicator.
  • Customer-service star.
  • Ability to hit the ground running in a fast-paced team environment, managing high-stress situations and competing priorities.
  • Flair for creative food preparation.
  • Knowledge and experience in portion control, menus, and the use of commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Understanding and respect for the needs of seniors, their families, and other professional services engaged with residents.
  • Criminal Record Check.
  • TB test within the first month of employment.

  • Red Seal training and certification.

Responsibilities

  • Creating an incredible dining experience for residents and guests.
  • Overseeing food preparation, ensuring that all dishes are prepared to perfection and presented attractively.
  • Stepping in to manage the kitchen in the Head Chef’s absence.
  • Assisting the Head Chef in planning and executing menus that align with the residence restaurant’s concept and vision.
  • Collaborating with the kitchen staff to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work space.
  • Assisting with receiving and storing food deliveries.
  • Monitoring inventory levels and assisting with ordering and maintaining stock of kitchen supplies.
  • People management, training and mentoring junior kitchen staff to improve their culinary skills and maintain consistency in dishes.
  • Preparing and serving residents at proper temperatures and in appropriate portions.
