About The Position

Aramark Sports + Entertainment is looking to hire a Sous Chef to support the food and beverage operations at the Canadian Tire Centre home to the Ottawa Senators. We know that a Chef’s job isn’t only about the food. It takes skills, dedication, patience, and the right opportunities. We’re looking for a sous chef who can help us deliver the best customer service and food experiences. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you’ll take a hands-on approach in focusing on team development, culinary expertise, safety protocol, and client relations. Our sous chef will also play a key role in helping us meet budget requirements and execute company-delivered programs.

Requirements

Requires 2-3 years of experience in a related position
Requires 2-3 years of post-high school education or equivalent experience
Requires advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food profession
Requires experiential knowledge of management of people and/or problems
Requires oral, reading and written communication skills

Culinary degree preferred

Responsibilities

Train and manage kitchen personnel and supervise/coordinate all related culinary activities
Estimate food consumption and requisition or purchase food
Select and develop recipes as well as standardize production recipes to ensure consistent quality
Establish presentation technique and quality standards, and plan and price menus
Ensure proper equipment operation/maintenance and ensure proper safety and sanitation in kitchen
Oversee special catering events and may also offer culinary instruction and/or demonstrates culinary techniques
Oversee daily operations of the set up and service of all food and beverage events, meetings, conferences, conventions and trade/consumer shows
Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality food, beverage and service standards
Develop and implement service protocols and operational policies
Coordinate with the culinary team and other departments to maintain a smooth workflow
Recruit, train, and mentor staff
Assign tasks and manage performance
Foster a positive workplace culture and ensure team adherence to policies, procedures and standards
Manage the team in alignment with the collective agreement
Maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with all departments
Communicate timelines, actions, and expectations throughout service execution to keep clients informed and confident
Monitor satisfaction at every stage—checking in regularly, confirming solutions meet expectations, and following up after service completion to ensure continued positive experiences
Utilize Aramark’s established operational processes, systems, and technology platforms to maintain consistency
Ensure all documentation, reporting, and data entry are completed accurately and in alignment with company standards
Manage purchasing activities to ensure timely procurement of products and maintain accurate inventory levels
Ensure proper staffing levels that align with business demands and budget requirements.
Effective management of food and beverage costs
Compliance with all Aramark policies, procedures and guidelines as well as the client contract and the collective agreement
Compliance with applicable law, codes and regulations including but not limited to those related to Public Health, Food Safety, Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario, and Occupational Health and Safety
