About The Position

The Sous Chef at The Center at Waterfront plays a vital role in delivering high-quality, nutritious, and appealing meals to our residents. Working closely with the Executive Chef, this position assists in leading kitchen operations, ensuring culinary excellence, strict adherence to dietary guidelines, and maintaining a safe, sanitary, and efficient kitchen environment. The ideal candidate will be passionate about food, possess strong leadership skills, and have a compassionate understanding of the unique dietary needs of a skilled nursing facility.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3-5 years of culinary experience, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of therapeutic diets and food safety regulations (HACCP).
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing resident needs.
• Must possess a valid Food Handler's Permit/ServSafe certification.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a healthcare, long-term care, or skilled nursing facility setting is highly preferred.
• Culinary degree or equivalent professional training preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Executive Chef in all aspects of kitchen management, including menu planning, food preparation, and inventory control.
• Oversee daily meal production, ensuring all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of taste, presentation, and quality.
• Ensure strict compliance with all therapeutic diet orders, resident preferences, and allergy restrictions.
• Supervise, train, and mentor kitchen staff, promoting a positive and productive work environment.
• Maintain impeccable standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety (HACCP, local health codes) in the kitchen.
• Manage food ordering, rotation, and waste control to optimize budget and efficiency.
• Step in for the Executive Chef when absent, ensuring seamless kitchen operations.
