About The Position

Lillian’s Petite Market & Eatery is seeking an experienced Sous Chef for a full-time position in Charleston, SC. This role focuses on breakfast and lunch service, including two brunch shifts alongside the Executive Chef, and supports a strong catering program. The ideal candidate is passionate about cooking, enjoys teaching, and excels at leading an organized kitchen. The schedule typically involves five days a week, from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with potential adjustments for catering needs. Lillian's is an independent neighborhood restaurant, café, bar, and market that values local ingredients and a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

At least two years of experience as a Sous Chef or in a comparable kitchen leadership role.
Strong cooking fundamentals and sound judgment during busy service.
Excellent organization, attention to detail, and reliable follow-through.
A respectful leadership style and a willingness to teach and learn.
An interest in local ingredients and the people who produce them.
Availability for early mornings, weekends, and catering needs.

Responsibilities

Lead breakfast and lunch preparation and service, maintaining quality and consistency.
Work alongside Chef Garrigan during two brunch shifts.
Help plan, prepare, and execute catering orders while keeping daily restaurant service running smoothly.
Contribute ideas for dishes, specials, and catering menus.
Train and support cooks with clear direction and practical teaching.
Manage prep lists, ordering, inventory, ingredient rotation, and waste.
Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
Communicate with the service team about daily changes, dietary needs, and guest requests.
