About The Position

As a Sous Chef I, you will support the overall success of a high-profile, multi-unit corporate dining operation in NYC, with a focus on high-volume café operations, elevated dining, and catering services. This role assists with culinary execution across multiple service areas, ensuring consistency, quality, and operational excellence. The Sous Chef I helps ensure exceptional food quality, freshness, presentation, and service across daily café operations and catered events. The Sous Chef also plays a key leadership role in training, developing, and directing back-of-house teams across a fast-paced, multi-unit environment, helping drive efficient execution, strong culinary standards, and an outstanding dining experience for clients and guests.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of related culinary management experience required for this role.
  • Knowledge of food and industry trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, safety, food cost controls, and presentation.
  • Ability to set up and distribute production sheets.
  • Supervisory, leadership, training, management, and coaching skills.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in corporate dining, fine dining restaurants, and/or related food service operations preferred.
  • Catering experience preferred.
  • ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred.
  • Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support menu execution, production planning, ordering, inventory management, and food preparation while maintaining company, client, and NYC Health Department standards.
  • Assists in coordinating and participating in the preparation and cooking of various food items.
  • Assists with planning and creating menus.
  • Supports catering events as needed.
  • Rolls out new culinary programs in conjunction with the marketing and culinary team.
  • Assists with managing cost controls and controlling expenditure.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
