About The Position

Wolfgang Puck Catering is seeking an experienced Sous Chef who enjoys working in a fast‑paced, high‑standards environment and brings a passion for executing elevated culinary experiences at scale. This role supports both large-format catering events and corporate dining operations from our South San Francisco commissary. Working closely with the Executive Chef, the Sous Chef plays a key role in daily culinary operations, menu development, and event execution. This is an opportunity for a collaborative, hands‑on culinary professional who enjoys leading teams, refining processes, and delivering memorable food experiences.

Requirements

  • Culinary training (A.S. degree or equivalent professional experience)
  • Progressive experience in culinary or kitchen leadership roles
  • Experience supporting catering operations; high‑volume or complex foodservice environments strongly preferred
  • Exposure to institutional or batch cooking environments is helpful
  • Strong understanding of current food and catering trends, with attention to quality, production, and presentation
  • Working knowledge of food cost controls, ordering, and inventory practices
  • Comfort using technology and standard office tools, including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and email
  • Willingness to engage in client feedback and satisfaction programs

Nice To Haves

  • ServSafe certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Support the day‑to‑day operation of the Culinary Department, ensuring consistent quality, presentation, and service
  • Partner with the Executive Chef on menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal offerings
  • Lead and execute high‑end catering and ad hoc culinary events, including large‑scale production
  • Assist with cost controls, inventory management, and responsible purchasing practices
  • Supervise, train, and support hourly culinary team members, fostering a positive and inclusive kitchen culture
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, sanitation, and company standards
  • Contribute to the rollout of new culinary programs in collaboration with marketing and corporate culinary teams
  • Participate in client satisfaction initiatives and continuously look for ways to enhance the guest experience
