About The Position

Givens Aldersgate is looking for a full-time Sous Chef to support our culinary leadership team. In this role you will craft nutritious, flavorful, and high-quality meals that enhance the lives of our residents. The schedule for this role will rotate between 9 am -6 pm and 10:30 am to close along with rotating weekends. Givens is a senior housing organization with a lot of heart and committed to providing housing to seniors of all socioeconomic backgrounds across WNC for more than 40 years. We already have five communities (three life plan communities and two affordable communities) with plans for many more in the coming years.

Requirements

• Culinary Degree or extensive professional kitchen experience
• 3-5 years of experience in a leadership culinary role
• Strong knowledge of wellness-focused cuisine and specialized dietary accommodations

Responsibilities

• Assist in the development and execution of seasonal health-conscious menus
• Ensure consistency in taste, presentation, and quality of meals served
• Maintain a warm, welcoming dining atmosphere that reflects restaurant-style hospitality
• Engage with residents to understand their preferences and personalized dining experience
• Oversee food preparation and ensure compliance with safety sanitation standards
• Maintain inventory and work with vendors to source high quality ingredients
• Maintain adherence to senior living dietary regulations and special meal accommodations
• Train, mentor, and support kitchen staff
• Collaborate with Dietitians and healthcare professions to accommodate residents’ nutritional needs
