About The Position

We are hiring immediately for a full time SOUS CHEF (FOOD TRUCK) position. This role involves assisting the Executive Chef in preparing and cooking foods, coordinating the activities of cooks and other food-service associates, and assuming responsibility for the kitchen and food-service associates in the absence of the Executive Chef. The position requires a valid driver's license and the ability to drive large vehicles, along with basic mechanical knowledge for truck operation. Culinary education and/or experience in purchasing, inventory, and food production are necessary. The role also involves strong customer service skills, proficiency with tech-related tools like POS systems, and the ability to work nights, weekends, and flexible schedules. Physical requirements include lifting 40 or more lbs., standing continually for up to 8 hours, and the ability to climb in and out of the truck repeatedly. Additionally, the ability to coach, develop, and mentor staff is essential. The position may also require working in other dining departments during times the food truck is closed for the season.

Requirements

  • Prior culinary and food truck experience is preferred.
  • Culinary education and/or culinary experience include purchasing, inventory, and food production.
  • Strong customer service skills.

  • Ability to lift 40 or more lbs., stand continually for up to 8hrs,and ability to climb in and out of the truck repeatedly.

  • Experience creating custom menus is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Cooks and prepares food following approved recipes and production standards. Ensures all deadlines are met based on production orders.
  • Supervises hourly food service associates. Includes interviewing, scheduling, payroll, training, counseling, participating in reviews and recommending disciplinary action, as appropriate.
  • Stores food in designated areas following all corporate, state and federal food safety and sanitation procedures.
  • Ensures proper food handling, presentation, portion control and maintenance of appropriate serving temperatures.
  • Maintains sanitation of equipment, supplies and utensils. Cleans workstation thoroughly before leaving area. Keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service to comply with all sanitation, safety, production and merchandising requirements.
  • Interacts with customers to resolve complaints in a friendly, service-oriented manner. Relays relevant information directly to supervisor.
  • Demonstrates complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to associates and customers.
  • Keeps up with peak production and service hours.
  • Monitors inventory and deliveries of product and supplies. Tracks product production, consumption and waste. Informs supervisor when supplies or product are low.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to drive large vehicles.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge to operate the truck components.
  • Ability to navigate tech-related tools such as POS, mobile ordering, monitors, purchasing, and menu platforms.
  • Ability to lift 40 or more lbs., stand continually for up to 8hrs,and ability to climb in and out of the truck repeatedly.
