About The Position

The Sourcing Specialist is responsible for implementing sourcing plans and tactics to effectively manage sourcing activities for their assigned portfolio. The primary goal is to maximize supplier performance in terms of cost, quality, and lead time, thereby supporting the GeoUnit's business plan. This involves developing and executing sourcing plans to ensure specified quality, timely delivery, and cost minimization. The specialist will document action plans and timelines for sourcing projects, select high-performance suppliers from a preferred list, and manage RFI/Q/P and bidding processes to minimize risk and maximize value. Key duties include evaluating current and prospective suppliers through reviews, site visits, and audits in coordination with Supplier Quality teams to ensure supply capabilities, on-time delivery, quality, and service. The role also requires negotiating prices and terms with suppliers, executing contract negotiations in collaboration with Sourcing Managers and Contract Specialists, and driving parts and process qualification. The Sourcing Specialist will work closely with Sourcing Managers or Sourcing Leaders to guarantee supply for portfolios and is expected to identify and implement actions for continuous improvement in efficiency and resource utilization, all while complying with Schlumberger and local procedures.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in a manufacturing-related environment—especially within categories such as machined parts, forgings, castings, fabrications, or fasteners.
  • Academic focus or supplemental coursework in Manufacturing processes, Mechanical engineering, Industrial engineering, or related technical fields (for early-career or new graduates).
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, and bills of materials.
  • Ability to engage suppliers on manufacturing capabilities and process requirements.
  • Ability to evaluate quotes for technical components.
  • Ability to interact with engineering, operations, and quality stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and perform structured analysis.
  • Proficiency in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Power BI (data modeling/visualization).
  • Proficiency in SAP/Ariba or similar ERP/procurement systems.
  • Strong overall digital fluency and comfort learning new tools.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze tariffs and duty structures.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze cost breakdowns.
  • Ability to interpret and analyze material indices (and understand their impact on pricing).
  • Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance cost, risk, and operational requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior exposure to technical sourcing, supplier engagement, or cost analysis.
  • Comfort with engineering drawings, specifications, and understanding of basic manufacturing workflows.
  • Advanced Excel functions.

Responsibilities

  • Implement sourcing plans and tactics to effectively manage the sourcing activities related to their assigned portfolio to maximize supplier performance (cost, quality, lead time) and support the business plan in the GeoUnit.
  • Implement sourcing plans with the goal of assuring specified quality, meeting required delivery times, and minimizing cost.
  • Document the performance of action plans and timelines for assigned sourcing projects.
  • Select a high-performance supply base for assigned portfolio, in accordance with a short-list of preferred suppliers defined by Category Managers.
  • Conduct requests for information, quotation, information, proposal (RFI/Q/P) and bidding processes, minimizing risk and maximizing value in terms of quality, delivery and cost.
  • Evaluate current and prospective suppliers through supplier reviews, site visits and audits, in coordination with Supplier Quality teams, to assure supply capabilities, on-time delivery, quality and service.
  • Negotiate prices and terms with suppliers to meet specified quality, delivery and cost objectives.
  • Execute contract negotiation and development in coordination with Sourcing Manager and Contract Specialists.
  • Drive the parts and process qualification in coordination with Supplier Quality teams.
  • Work closely with Sourcing Manager or Sourcing Leader to guarantee supply for portfolios.
  • Identify opportunities and implement actions to continually reduce wasted time, money, and resources from assigned tasks.
  • Comply with Schlumberger and local procedures applicable to the job function.
