About The Position

We are looking for someone who truly enjoys owning the sourcing function and helping to support the business. If you get energized and motivated about partnering with operations teams, developing purchasing processes, strategic sourcing, and analyzing data, this may be the job for you! If you describe yourself as an organized and analytical sourcing or category specialist, we want to hear from you! As a Sourcing Specialist, you will be responsible for purchasing direct and indirect materials and establishing purchasing processes and procedures. You will evaluate and analyze purchasing trends and pricing, identify demand and minimize purchasing costs. Here’s an overview of what you can expect to do while working here:

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing experience in the landscape, nursery, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of landscaping equipment and plant material
  • HS Diploma or GED equivalent, Associates Degree is preferred
  • Must be proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Must be able to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and work in a fast paced, everchanging environment
  • Excellent customer services skills to facilitate and negotiate pricing

Nice To Haves

  • NetSuite experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Negotiate and purchase direct and indirect materials for all service lines
  • Manage multiple sourcing categories and deliver cost out targets by category
  • Support members of the leadership team to understand our current inventory levels and what is needed
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with vendors
  • Coordinate delivery schedules with managers
  • Research and identify market trends affecting the supply and demand of materials needed
  • Partner with members of the leadership team to understand materials needed for individual work sites
  • Review all purchase orders and delivery receipts for accuracy
  • Develop category strategies by researching promotional pricing, discounts and incentives
  • Consolidate suppliers into categories
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned
