About The Position

The Sourcing Specialist has the primary responsibility for sourcing raw materials needed for customer project execution for North America for the Value Add Team. The role is focused on all aspects of strategic sourcing, quoting, samples, document collection, qualification, and streamlining set up for the Prinova Value Add business needs. The role will work in conjunction with the Ingredients Distribution team, R&D request, external partners, and all Business Units to find the best raw material needed for the request – specific product claim, vendor requirements, and product attributes.

Requirements

  • A four-year degree from an accredited college is preferred, or experience that demonstrates key needs, along with business-to-business industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive experience.
  • Knowledge of functional raw materials.

  • Market Trends. Assess market trends and quantify their effect on business opportunities; identify new business opportunities and determine how to expand or modify existing initiatives to meet on-going and changing customer needs.

  • Ability to adjust work schedule as business needs require.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with R&D and formulation to proactively source new materials (ingredients and packaging)
  • Source materials by collection pricing, samples, and documentation – from multiple sources where possible
  • Submit samples to development and quality for bench and analytical approval, respectively, and track the approval process
  • Create item codes according to the proper data control processes in the ERP system and other relevant systems
  • Ensure maximum leverage of Prinova as our major supply source
  • Long term relationships are built and maintained with suppliers locally and internationally
  • Utilize Prinova PM’s when networking and sourcing new products
  • Minimize costs of component materials and consistently work to lower pricing on existing materials in conjunction with the whole procurement team
  • Maintain item sourcing lists to ensure research is captured and documented on product suppliers and pricing for reuse on later opportunities
  • Source packaging and support the procurement team in establishing beneficial stocking agreements with suppliers
  • Supports financial targets for sales, gross margin, and profitability
  • Setup of raw material specification in the LIMS system
  • Directs the implementation and execution of effective sourcing policies and procedures
  • Establishes metrics for both activity and results, including but not limited to new product sourcing, cost savings supported, opportunities supported, One Prinova sourcing percentage, etc.
  • Works closely with the Marketing Team to understand the key trending ingredients to ensure that they are pre-positioned for new business opportunities.
  • Works closely with the procurement team and can issue POs and provide support for new materials being brought in.
  • Drive urgency with suppliers to support the timely set up and support of customer needs
  • Liaison with Regulatory & Quality for raw material and vendor approval of new items.
  • Models and ensures that all company values are being followed
