About The Position

As a Sourcing IT Expert, you will provide strategic leadership and subject matter expertise across a broad range of IT sourcing categories. You will lead complex sourcing engagements, advise senior client stakeholders, identify market opportunities, and drive innovative sourcing solutions that balance commercial value, supplier performance, risk management, and business objectives. You will also play a key role in shaping sourcing strategy, mentoring consultants and senior consultants, and supporting the continued growth of Chain IQ's technology sourcing capabilities.

Requirements

  • Education in business, procurement, supply chain, information technology, finance, or a related discipline, with 6+ years of strategic sourcing, category management, or procurement experience.
  • Extensive experience leading complex, high-value technology sourcing initiatives within multinational, highly matrixed organizations.
  • Deep expertise across key technology categories, including Software and SaaS / cloud services / infrastructure and data center / telecommunications and network services / cybersecurity / hardware and end user computing / managed services / and IT professional services
  • Proven ability to develop category strategies, leverage market intelligence, and influence technology investment decisions through insight-driven recommendations.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage, influence, and challenge senior business, technology, and executive leaders.
  • Advanced commercial and financial acumen, including total cost of ownership (TCO), financial modeling, business case development, benchmarking, spend analytics, savings identification, and value realization.
  • Extensive experience negotiating complex technology, outsourcing, cloud, software licensing, and managed services agreements, with a strong focus on risk mitigation and value optimization.
  • Strong understanding of supplier markets, commercial models, emerging technologies, regulatory requirements, and information security considerations.
  • Proficiency with sourcing, procurement, analytics, and contract management platforms, including SAP Ariba, Coupa, Jaggaer, Archlet, Apadua, SAP, Power BI, Excel, and contract lifecycle management (CLM) tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to combine strategic thinking, executive presence, commercial leadership, and deep market expertise to deliver measurable business outcomes and long-term client value.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business, technology, procurement, finance, legal, and risk stakeholders, shaping sourcing strategies and supporting executive decision-making.
  • Provide deep category expertise and market intelligence across key technology domains, including software and SaaS, cloud, infrastructure, cybersecurity, telecommunications, managed services, hardware, and professional services.
  • Lead the development and execution of enterprise-wide category, sourcing, and supplier strategies that align with business objectives, technology roadmaps, and market trends.
  • Drive highly complex, high-value sourcing engagements from opportunity identification through supplier selection, negotiation, and contract execution.
  • Design and execute innovative commercial and negotiation strategies that optimize cost, value, service quality, risk management, and supplier innovation.
  • Deliver actionable market insights, benchmarking, and supplier intelligence to influence sourcing decisions, challenge requirements, and identify new value opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations of complex technology agreements, ensuring favorable commercial terms, operational flexibility, scalability, and effective risk mitigation.
  • Build and manage executive-level supplier relationships, driving performance, governance, innovation, accountability, and long-term strategic value.
  • Partner with Legal, Information Security, Compliance, Risk, and Supply Chain teams to ensure sourcing activities meet governance, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
  • Act as a sourcing thought leader by mentoring peers, sharing category expertise, supporting capability development, and driving continuous improvement and best practices across the organization.
