Sourced Products Supplier Quality Engineer
About The Position
Trane Technologies is seeking a Sourced Products Supplier Quality Engineer to provide quality engineering leadership to designated partners in its Sourced Products portfolio of HVAC finished goods. The role fosters an exceptional customer experience for Trane-branded equipment by coaching and mentoring partners on strategic quality initiatives throughout the product lifecycle, from product inception through post-sales issues, and by mitigating potential quality risks that could affect expected performance. The position promotes supplier use of tailored standard work to improve problem solving, new program launches, field service engagement, and the end-customer experience. It works with product and category management, suppliers, field service and account teams, and customer-facing representatives. The position is onsite Monday through Thursday, with the choice of work location on Fridays according to work requirements, and requires travel up to 50%, with occasional peaks above that level.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations management, or a related discipline.
- 8–12 years of experience in quality or quality engineering in a design, engineering, or manufacturing environment using best practices in Advanced Quality Planning, DFMEA deployment, and Production Part Approval Processes.
- Demonstrated leadership and applied knowledge of APQP, FMEA, and PPAP.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to influence and motivate suppliers and interact with people at various levels throughout the Trane organization.
- Excellent analytical and technical skills, particularly in problem solving.
- Ability to communicate with people at various levels within Trane, Sourced Products partners, and end-customer representatives.
- Ability to travel up to 50%, with occasional periods of higher travel.

Responsibilities
- Partner with product and category management to build collaborative relationships with targeted Sourced Products partners for sustaining products and new product initiatives.
- Coach and mentor partners in effective problem-solving methods for quality concerns found in the field and at end customers.
- Train Sourced Products partners to use standard work intended to improve productivity and first pass yield.
- Analyze monthly warranty claims and field quality alerts, helping suppliers address Pareto issues that may reduce warranty and concession expenses and PPM.
- Track supplier performance metrics and respond to negative trends and unfavorable customer concerns.
- Serve as a point of contact on quality issues for account managers, field service representatives, and other customer-facing agents, supporting thorough problem resolution.
- Initiate supplier process reviews and audits to verify process rigor and capability to meet performance expectations.
- Introduce quality initiatives for Sourced Products partners and implement measures to hold them accountable for deliverables.
- Drive Advanced Product Quality Planning initiatives and standard work through new product introduction via Sourced Product channels.
- Facilitate supplier recovery solutions between Sourced Products partners and CHVAC recovery teams.
- Manage supplier requests for part-return teardown analysis.
