About The Position

We are looking for an On-Call Sound Technician to join our Montreal Technical Studios team. If you're ready to get involved in exciting projects with a global scope, you've come to the right place. Requirements

  • Degree or diploma in Audio Engineering, Sound Design, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience as a Sound Technician in live entertainment, theater, or events industry.
  • Proficiency in operating sound consoles (e.g., Yamaha TF and CL series) and familiarity with audio software (e.g., Pro Tools, QLab).
  • Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues under pressure.
  • Knowledge of sound principles, including microphone placement, signal flow, equalization, and mixing techniques.
  • Understanding of basic principles of acoustics, audio signal processing, and digital audio networking.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours.
  • Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the studios technical team to set up, install, and operate sound equipment for rehearsals, performances, and special events.
  • Operate sound consoles and software to mix and control audio elements, ensuring high-quality sound reinforcement according to artistic and technical requirements.
  • Conduct routine maintenance checks on sound equipment, including microphones, amplifiers, speakers, and playback devices, to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues and malfunctions promptly, implementing solutions to minimize disruptions during live shows.
  • Provide support and assistance during load-ins, load-outs, and technical rehearsals, collaborating effectively with other technical crew members.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and positive attitude while working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Adhere to Cirque du Soleil's safety policies, procedures, and industry regulations related to audio systems, rigging, and working at heights.
  • Report any safety hazards, incidents, or near misses to the appropriate personnel and follow established protocols for incident management.
