About The Position

This position is for the full academic year and open to upperclassmen only. FRESHMEN ARE NOT ELIGIBLE TO APPLY FOR DEPARTMENT POSITIONS. Expected hours of work per week : 10-15 Work Location & Hours : Sanderson 215, typically weekday mornings

  • Must have previous experience working with lights and sound
  • Hours are typically 10-15 hours/week, usually more hours during tech and dress rehearsals, fewer hours at the end of a semester

Nice To Haves

  • Previous theatre experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Work with director and general manager to plan for light and sound elements in four productions a year
  • Ensure tech elements are ready for tech rehearsals by executing designs and coordinating the efforts of other crew members
  • Duties will vary with needs of production and other crew member's assignments, may include: light design, sound design, hanging lights, focusing lights, writing cues, creating sound cues, running light or soundboards during shows
  • Assist with other events in Sanderson 215 as available
  • Resume skills development (NACE Competencies required by employers) to be developed Career & Self-Development , including showing an awareness of own strengths and areas for development.
  • Communication in the form of asking appropriate questions for specific information from supervisors, specialists, and others.
  • Critical Thinking in the form of making decisions and solving problems using sound, inclusive reasoning, and judgment.
  • Global Literacy displayed by keeping an open mind to diverse ideas and new ways of thinking.
