About The Position

This position performs all routine and special ultrasound procedures, demonstrating anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and protocols according to department policy and procedure. The role involves receiving consultation requests, explaining examination procedures to patients and families, updating patient records, and maintaining necessary inventory of supplies. Staff members must possess knowledge of human growth and development across the lifespan and be able to meet the needs of patients in various age categories, including Neonatal/Infant, Pediatrics, Adolescence, Young Adult/Adult, Adult/Middle-Aged, and Geriatric.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all routine and special ultrasound procedures.
  • Demonstrates anatomy under investigation through proper patient positioning and protocols according to department policy and procedure.
  • Performs all duties assigned.
  • Receives consultation request, checking for special instructions from the requesting physician.
  • Consults with the Radiologist as necessary.
  • Completely explains examination procedure to the patient and their family, if present.
  • Updates patient examination history file, records unusual conditions/limitations, documents examination time, room numbers, and technique factors.
  • Completes examination, consultation, and billing procedures as required.
  • Performs other paperwork as needed.
  • Maintains necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or workstation, rotating stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminating outdated items.
  • Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the lifespan of the patient and have the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Neonatal/Infant: 0 - 11 months; Pediatrics: 1 - 12 years; Adolescence: 13 - 17 years;Young Adult/Adult: 18 - 64 years; Adult/Middle-Aged: 65 - 79 years; Geriatric: 80+ years
