About The Position

The Sonographer performs a variety of ultrasound procedures in an outpatient setting while maintaining a highlevel of customer service and quality patient care. The administration of the Sonographer includes performing routinegeneral and breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist and demonstratingcompassion to ensure overall patient satisfaction.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Completion of a course in Ultrasound
  • Current RDMS certification is required.
  • Skills in properly positioning patients and obtaining diagnostic images, identifying equipment problems,establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and public.
  • This job requires prolonged sitting or standing, frequent bending, stooping, or stretching; Must be able to see with orwithout corrective eyewear, must be able to hear clearly, with or without assistance. This position may require lifting50 plus pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years in the Sonography field is preferred.
  • Current Breast and/or RVT certifications are preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Performs routine general and breast ultrasound procedures following the protocols established by the radiologist.Patients are positioned and scanned correctly assuring that the physician prescription and scan are the same.
  • Properly inputs all required patient information into the system including protocol, patient history in fullsentences, performing providers, and any additional information to the radiologist regarding the procedure.
  • Obtains complete and detailed history to assist the radiologist with diagnosis from each patient. Performs examsin an accurate and timely manner.
  • Properly identifies patients and demonstrates compassion while maintaining patient confidentiality. Explainsthe exam to each patient to ensure patient safety and cooperation.
  • Assists the radiologist during breast biopsies while following OSHA and universal precautions. Reviews consentforms with patients and answers any questions regarding the procedure, and ensures that the radiologist and patientsign the consent forms. Properly labels the specimen containers and fills out any necessary paperwork accurately.
  • Maintains exam rooms by stocking exam rooms with necessary supplies. Maintains equipment and reports anyequipment malfunctions to the supervisor or appropriate service provider.
  • Properly windows and levels images for film printing and burns CDs as necessary.
  • Promotes teamwork by assisting other staff as needed. Performs other duties as required.
