About The Position

This position is for a Sonographer II or Sonographer III at Sutter Health, specifically within the PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation CAD. The role involves performing routine and specialized sonography procedures to produce quality diagnostic images. The Sonographer works independently, exercising sound judgment and clinical skills to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. They are responsible for patient assessment, monitoring, and effective communication, while adhering to all regulations and policies to ensure patient privacy and safety. Depending on the level (II or III), the complexity and experience required will vary. The anticipated schedule is primarily one shift a week, on the weekends, though this can vary. The position may also involve orienting other staff to the department.

Requirements

Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program OR possession of ARDMS evidencing completion of a Diagnostic Medical Sonography program

BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire
Must possess two of the following for Sonographer II: AB-Abdomen certification, BR-Breast certification, FE-Fetal Echocardiography certification, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology certification, PS-Pediatric Sonography certification, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician certification
2 years of recent relevant experience (for Sonographer II)
Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.
Proficient in performing sonographic examinations with a solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS)).
Ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized policies, procedures, and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently, as well as be part of the team, including accomplishing multiple tasks in an environment with interruptions.
Ability to identify, evaluate and resolve standard problems by selecting appropriate solutions from established options.
Ability to ensure the privacy of each patient’s protected health information (PHI).
Ability to build collaborate relationships with peers and other healthcare providers to achieve departmental and corporate objectives.

5 years of recent relevant experience (for Sonographer III)
Advanced knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including substantial experience responding to traumas, code blues, medical alerts, STAT calls, and various hospital emergencies.
Skilled in performing sonographic examinations with an extensive understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
Time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadline.
