Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years performing sonography including general, vascular OB/GYN.
  • Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or Cardiovascular Technology Program that is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).
  • Active certification by American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous travel experience is preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography is preferred.
  • Advanced registry in Vascular, Abdomen, OB and Breast imaging is preferred.
  • Experience with Canon i800 equipment.
  • For OB experience, sonographer must be comfortable with OB 1st Trimester, Biophysical profiles, AFI, cord doppler, and growth checks. No OB surveys or Level 2 exams are required for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Perform clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations including general, vascular, and OB/Gyn for the ED and any STAT in-patient requests.
  • Review the requisition for examination in order to be aware of procedure requested, clinical history, patient condition or special requirements, and use cognitive sonographic skills to execute procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological and diagnostic information and images.
  • Use independent judgement during the sonographic exam to differentiate between normal and pathologic findings, and initiate additional ultrasound imaging procedures facilitate optimum diagnostic results.
  • Analyse sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history and communicate findings to the physician.
  • Maintain a positive attitude and working relationships with radiology team, follow physician instructions precisely, and accurately maintain patient records within Radiology Information System (RIS).
  • Maintain a clean work area promoting good safety habits for patients and co-workers, and maintain ultrasound equipment in good working order, clean and disinfect after each use.
  • Maintain adequate supplies as needed.
  • Complete exam billing and help supervisor gain support for unit goals and plans.
  • All other duties as assigned.
