Requirements

  • Graduated from accredited US program (required)
  • ARDMS or within 1 year of hire date (required)
  • Two specialty areas ( i.e. abdomen, vascular, OBGYN) (Breast may be considered specialty by leader) (required)
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (required)

Nice To Haves

  • 3 years prior ultrasound experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Performs examinations according to established protocols.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of human cross sectional anatomy, physiology, pathology and medical terminology.
  • Maintains a high degree of accuracy in positioning and imaging technique.
  • Supports the mission of the hospital and department by excellent customer relations skills.
  • Uses consistent and appropriate techniques to gather relevant information pertinent to the examination being performed, including correct patient identification and order verification.
  • Assess patient to determine and develop an action plan for completing the procedure.
  • Performs pre and post exam patient education pertinent to exam being performed.
  • Produces scans according to established protocols within the Diagnostic Imaging Department with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Evaluates finished images for technical accuracy and diagnostic quality.
  • Discusses technical findings with Radiologist.
  • Ensures examinations are complete to include, Cerner completion and PACS review.
  • Instructs Radiology Residents and students in the Ultrasound scanning protocols (depending on facility).
  • Assists in training new personnel in hospital and department procedures.
  • Takes an active role in gaining and maintaining proficiency in hospital and radiology equipment and information systems needed in performance of job responsibilities.
  • Assist in quality improvement programs in the department.
  • Maintains appropriate credentials and certification related to clinical practice and ensures a current copy is on file in the department/hospital.
  • Takes call as needed.
  • Attends and participates in department staff meetings and in-services.
  • Uses appropriate customer relations skills to ensure customer expectations are met including flexibility in schedule hours.
  • Ensures that assigned areas are kept clean, neat and orderly.
  • Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct.
  • Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
