About The Position

Performs routine and advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures at an intermediate to beginning specialist skill level. Responsibilities include performing various ultrasound techniques and examinations such as abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, obstetric and gynecology scans, small parts and neonatal head scans, vascular exams, and assisting with interventional procedures. The role also involves scheduling cases, positioning and transferring patients, selecting proper technical factors and equipment, maintaining equipment, preparing documentation, and utilizing the PACS system. Specific to WellSpan Medical Group/Maternal Fetal Medicine, the role includes directing patients to rooms and obtaining vitals. Common expectations involve demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the life span, assessing and interpreting age-specific data, providing direct patient care, and demonstrating a commitment to safety by complying with regulations, reporting errors, and participating in safety initiatives. The position also requires maintaining policies and procedures, enhancing professional growth, maintaining records, providing outstanding customer service, fostering teamwork, practicing fiscal responsibility, and supervising/assisting students. Securing and returning supplies is also a responsibility.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED Required
2 years Relevant experience.

Responsibilities

Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations such as, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, obstetric and gynecology scans, small parts and neonatal head scans, vascular exams, and assist with interventional procedures.
Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure.
Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
Selects and operates equipment as needed to perform required exams.
Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.
Knowledge and use of digital image storage system PACS.
Directs patients to rooms and obtain vitals of patients.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population.
Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment.
Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.

Secures and returns supplies such as film, linens, medicine, patient folders.
