About The Position

The schedule for this position is five 8-hour shifts per week 0745-1615, primarily at CDH, with a rotation to Kish and Delnor hospitals. and an On Call rotation on weekends (Saturday and Sunday). The MFM Sonographer reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Sonography Program
  • American Registry for Diagnostic Sonographer (ARDMS) Obstetrics Gynecology (OB)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic maternal-fetal ultrasound examinations in accordance with industry standards, department policies, and accepted standards of practice.
  • Independently perform two-dimensional ultrasound imaging of female reproductive anatomy and fetal structures with accuracy and clinical judgment.
  • Review physician orders and patient history; evaluate imaging requests and determine appropriate examination protocols and techniques.
  • Operate ultrasound equipment, accessories, and imaging parameters to produce high-quality diagnostic images while minimizing patient exposure.
  • Assess patients and provide care throughout procedures in accordance with departmental, hospital, and age-specific patient care standards.
  • Prepare patients, equipment, supplies, and sterile trays, including procedure-specific accessories, medications, guide wires, catheters, and ancillary equipment as required.
  • Educate patients before, during, and after procedures using verbal and/or written materials to reduce anxiety and promote comfort and cooperation.
  • Exercise professional judgment, care, and discretion in all patient interactions, acting in the best interest of the patient.
  • Monitor patient condition throughout examinations and communicate pertinent findings or changes to the physician.
  • Serve as a clinical resource through observation and communication to support physician diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Analyze imaging results, identify quality issues, and take corrective action as needed to ensure diagnostic accuracy.
  • Accurately document imaging procedures and results manually and/or electronically to ensure correct patient records, billing, and film/image tracking.
  • Transmit completed studies to PACS using proper accession numbers for timely retrieval by medical staff.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and/or medications when ordered, within scope of practice.
  • Follow infection control standards, sterile technique guidelines, and established safety protocols.
  • Perform required quality control procedures, basic equipment troubleshooting, and report malfunctions or deficiencies promptly.
  • Monitor supply inventory, reorder as needed, rotate dated items, and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives through data collection and process improvement efforts.
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective communication with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Perform related duties as assigned in support of departmental and organizational goals
