About The Position

The Sonographer produces high-quality diagnostic images for Radiologist interpretation. Most shifts and locations require working as part of a team. The Ultrasound department provides a learning environment and may allow staff to rotate between the hospital and five off-site or specialty departments based on their skills and interests. Exams include, but are not limited to, invasive procedures (thoracentesis, paracentesis, thyroid FNA, renal and liver biopsy), operating-room cases, general abdominal and small-parts imaging, OB/GYN, musculoskeletal, liver elastography, pediatric, neurology, breast, and vascular exams.

Requirements

• Successful completion of an accredited CAAHEP educational Sonography program recognized by the ARDMS.
• Compliant with the Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (MIRT) prior to hire.
• Obtain OR registry within 12 months of accepted employment if registry eligible.
• Obtain vascular registration within 18 months of accepted employment.
• Ability to obtain BLS during employment.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.
• Familiarity with neuro-sonology, vascular scanning, abdominal, obstetrical, and gynecological scanning.
• ARDMS registered.

Responsibilities

• Perform ultrasound procedures according to Intersocietal Accreditation Commission (IAC) standards and adhere to the ARDMS Code of Ethics.
• Serve as the primary liaison between patients, licensed practitioners, and other members of the support team.
• Understand and adhere to departmental exam protocols.
• Use independent, professional, ethical judgment and critical thinking.
