About The Position

Follows clearly defined diagnostic sonography procedures to deliver high quality images to physicians and other health care providers for the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of injury or disease. Integrates education, technical competence and patient interaction skills to execute safe and precise procedures to deliver accurate results in a timely manner. Gains confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers through competent patient assessment, attentive monitoring, and effective communication. Adheres to all local/state/federal regulations, codes, policies and procedures to ensure privacy and safety while delivering optimal patient care. Sutter Amador Hospital's rich history of Amador County dates back as far as 1876. Today, the community based, not-for-profit Sutter Amador Hospital has 52 licensed beds and is the only hospital in Amador County serving a population of more than 40,000.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program or equivalent education/experience
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Eligible (Sonographer Level I)
  • BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider Upon Hire (Sonographer Level I & II)
  • ARDMS-American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer Upon Hire (Sonographer Level II & III)
  • Must possess two (2) of the following certifications Upon Hire (Sonographer Level II): AB-Abdomen, BR-Breast, FE-Fetal Echocardiography, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology, PS-Pediatric Sonography, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician
  • Must possess three (3) of the following certifications Upon Hire (Sonographer Level III, except MFM Sonographers who qualify with one or more): AB-Abdomen, BR-Breast, FE-Fetal Echocardiography, OB/GYN-Obstetrics & Gynecology, PS-Pediatric Sonography, RVT-Registered Vascular Technician
  • Intermediate knowledge of diagnostic sonography principles, procedures, views, and equipment, including some experience responding to traumas and various hospital emergencies.
  • Proficient in performing sonographic examinations with a solid understanding of human anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology so as to recognize, prioritize and communicate suspicious or abnormal results.
  • Possess written and verbal communications skills to explain sensitive information clearly and professionally to diverse audiences, including non-medical people.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize assignments and work within standardized operating procedures and scientific methods to achieve objectives and meet deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of computer applications, such as Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel and Outlook) and related information systems (Radiology (RIS), laboratory (LIS), electronic health records (EHR), EPIC, and picture archive and communication system (PACS)).

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years basic clinical and practical experience as typically acquired during an accredited Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program (Sonographer Level I or II).
  • 5 years clinical and practical experience (Sonographer Level III).
