About The Position

Precise Systems is seeking a Test Technician to support Sonobuoy test activities for the Airborne ASW Systems Engineering Division. AN/SSQ Series Production Sonobuoys are critical sensors for U.S. Navy Air Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) forces, used for detecting, classifying, and localizing adversary submarines. These expendable devices are commandable via UHF link and report acoustic information over VHF RF channels. Testing occurs in the open ocean at the San Clemente Island test range and in laboratory facilities to ensure sonobuoys meet Performance Specification requirements after air launch or over-the-side deployment. Laboratory testing involves preconditioning units with specific environments (e.g., temperature and altitude cycling) before activation and measurement of parameters such as operating life, VHF/UHF radio performance, and acoustic response to verify performance requirements.

Requirements

Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Technical experience with test equipment (i.e. spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, antennas, etc)
Demonstrated experience designing test plans, scenarios, scripts, or procedures
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Ability to work independently or as part of a team
MS Office working knowledge
U.S. Citizenship is required
Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance

Nice To Haves

Familiarization with Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) sensors and/or VHF/UHF systems preferred

Responsibilities

Operate sonobuoy test and evaluation equipment to measure sonobuoy performance
Operate RF Spectrum Analyzers to measure sonobuoy VHF performance
Operate and record demonstrated parameters from spectrum analyzers, audio strip charts, etc.
Evaluate test results and provide feedback to Test Director
Identify opportunities for improvement in current processes and implement new processes
Deliver strong communication skills (written & verbal); ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
Troubleshooting and problem-solving ability
