As the Sommelier for Halls Chophouse, you will educate and empower our guests to navigate our wine list. Each region, varietal and vineyard will come alive through your knowledge and passion for wine. A student of the vine— your extensive knowledge of wine continues to grow through rigorous studies. You are able to lead the guest beyond the bottle, explaining how the smell of the soil marries with the climate to create each note in the finished product. A versatile beverage aficionado—your beverage knowledge includes spirits, beer and cocktails. You understand why whiskey and bourbon are different as well as the origins and ingredients of classic cocktails. Great steward of the wine program-your upkeep of product, inventory, purchasing, and budgeting is proven through your experience.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years experience as Sommelier in high volume restaurant or steakhouse
  • Strong interpersonal and sales skills
  • Must have valid South Carolina State Approved Alcohol Server Training Certificate.
  • Previous experience as a Sommelier, Wine Steward or Hospitality role
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Adherence to alcohol handling laws and regulations
  • Interest in continuing education
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays
  • Proven, extensive knowledge of wine, beer and spirits is a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in the Court of Master Sommeliers is a plus.
