About The Position

Convergint is looking for a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Security Solutions Estimator to join our growing team and award-winning culture. This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated security professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about delivering innovative technology solutions to customers across a wide range of industries. In this role, you will serve as a key technical advisor and strategic partner to our Account Executives throughout the sales and pre-construction process. The ideal candidate brings a strong security industry background with experience developing both design-build solutions and complete turnkey RFP/BID proposals for complex integrated security systems. As a Security Solutions Estimator, you will be responsible for leading the technical evaluation and estimating phases of projects including access control, video surveillance, intrusion detection, intercom, and integrated security technologies. You will collaborate closely with customers, consultants, project stakeholders, and internal sales teams to develop accurate, competitive, and innovative solutions that align with customer needs and project objectives.

Requirements

  • College degree, trade school or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 1-3 years sales engineering, estimating or equivalent
  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted.
  • Ability to take initiative of engaging in proactive behaviors and opportunities of improvement.
  • Basic knowledge of engineering principles and practices related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficient computer skills including MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).

Responsibilities

  • Conducting customer site walks and pre-bid meetings alongside Account Executives and project stakeholders
  • Designing and estimating integrated security solutions for both negotiated and hard-bid opportunities
  • Developing detailed scopes of work, bill of materials, labor estimates, and proposal documentation
  • Reviewing plans, specifications, and RFP documents to identify project requirements and risk
  • Working with manufacturers and distribution partners to evaluate emerging technologies and recommend best-fit solutions
  • Supporting value engineering efforts while maintaining system integrity and customer expectations
  • Assisting with project handoff and collaboration with operations teams to ensure successful project execution
  • Staying current with evolving security technologies, industry trends, and best practices
  • Designs and documents installed solutions with moderate complexity according to project requirements.
  • Carries out in-depth analysis of plans, functional specifications and site visits to determine and advise on overall project requirements.
  • Prepares estimates and quotes for each project utilizing estimation software tool.
  • Assists with customer requests for information including the completion of RFIs and RFPs.
  • Proactively communicates with colleagues, vendors, consultants and Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
  • Understands requirements and collaborates with the sales team to articulate the value proposition of CTC products and services to customers.
  • Provides input, review and coordination of the preparation of shop drawings and wiring diagrams, based on project plans and specifications for completeness, showing location of devices, equipment, wiring, etc. and identifies cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements within the project schedule.
  • Work with vendors to register project scopes to ensure the best pricing and product availability.
  • Advises Sales Professional and Project Manager regarding products needed for installation, identifying any items which may have longer lead times.
  • May prepare and/or review formal submittal booklets, containing schematics, and technical literature as necessary to support each contract.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.
