Solutions Engineering Architect - 19495

Synopsys•Sunnyvale, CA
•$268,600 - $403,000•Onsite

About The Position

Synopsys is hiring a Solutions Engineering Architect to work with customers building advanced HPC and AI chips. The role translates customer requirements and design constraints into system-level IP integration solutions, with architectural guidance spanning subsystem interfaces, performance targets, and implementation strategies. The architect supports customers throughout the IP lifecycle, from evaluation and kickoff through integration, tape-out, and silicon bring-up, and contributes customer insights to future IP roadmaps. The position combines hands-on technical work, including investigating signal-integrity issues on customer boards, with customer-facing architecture guidance and communication. It also develops technical collateral and provides training to field application engineers and customers. The role involves approximately 15 to 30 percent travel to customer sites, sales offices, and engineering centers. It is an employee position in Sunnyvale, California, and is not remote eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • At least 10 years of hands-on experience as a design engineer, system architect, or applications engineer on complex SoCs or ASIC projects.
  • Deep working knowledge of interface, connectivity, and memory protocols including UCIe, PCIe, Ethernet, HBM, and LPDDR.
  • Grounding in SoC design implementation, including RTL design and verification using Verilog or SystemVerilog, synthesis, static timing analysis, physical design flow, testbench creation, and simulation.
  • Experience with high-speed PCB layout, signal-integrity analysis, board assembly and manufacturing processes, and lab equipment such as high-speed oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers, and traffic generators.
  • Experience selecting, integrating, designing, or supporting semiconductor IP in a customer-facing or internal architecture role.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and concisely in verbal and written formats.
  • Ability to manage multiple customer engagements and follow through on commitments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with interface protocols across multiple protocol generations and use cases.

Responsibilities

  • Engage with customer architects and SoC leads to gather system requirements, understand design constraints, and translate them into IP integration solutions.
  • Architect subsystems integrating Synopsys IP, including UCIe, PCIe, Ethernet, HBM, and LPDDR, and specify interfaces, performance targets, and implementation strategies.
  • Support customers across the lifecycle from IP evaluation and kickoff through integration, tape-out, and silicon bring-up.
  • Develop architecture diagrams, design specifications, application notes, and white papers for presales and customer implementation.
  • Analyze customer markets and requirements, prioritize feedback, and work with Product Management and Design Engineering to influence IP roadmaps.
  • Travel approximately 15 to 30 percent to customer sites, sales offices, and engineering centers for evaluations, design reviews, and technical escalations.
  • Provide technical training to field application engineers and key customers on IP products, integration practices, and system-level design.
  • Collaborate with field application engineers, product management, design engineering, sales, and sales leadership to deliver customer solutions and support business growth.

Benefits

  • Comprehensive health, wellness, and financial benefits.
  • The role may be eligible for an annual bonus, equity, and other discretionary bonuses.
