Solutions Engineer

SweatpalsAustin, TX

About The Position

At Sweatpals, our mission is to help people build real connection through movement — and empower the next generation of fitness entrepreneurs. Backed by a16z Speedrun, Kevin Hart, and other world-class investors, we connect hundreds of thousands of “Pals,” hosts, and gyms through events, memberships, and social features. We believe working out should be joyful, social, and inclusive — not just a solo grind. From run clubs and beach pilates to pickleball leagues and cold plunge socials, Sweatpals turns everyday workouts into meaningful social experiences. Sweatpals also gives local leaders the tools to grow their fitness communities from side hustles to full-time, even million-dollar businesses. Hosts use our platform to run their business — from ticketing and RSVPs to class packs and memberships. We're hiring a Solutions Engineer (Success Team) to be the technical partner for our hosts — acting as a developer who is host-facing. You’ll sit on our Success team, but your day-to-day will look like engineering: designing integrations, building and debugging implementations, shaping APIs/workflows with our product/engineering team, and shipping real code/config that unlocks value for hosts and expedite the migration process for studios/gyms and event hosts. This is not a “light technical” onboarding role. We need someone who can drop into messy real-world environments, read logs, reason about systems, write scripts, and turn ambiguity into a working solution — then explain it clearly to a gym owner, studio operator, or community leader. You’ll be the bridge between: what our product can do today, what hosts need to run their business, and what we should build next to make Sweatpals the best platform for fitness entrepreneurs.

Requirements

  • 4–7+ years in software engineering, solutions engineering, sales engineering, forward-deployed engineering, developer advocacy, or technical customer success — with significant hands-on building.
  • Developer-first skill set : Strong fundamentals (APIs, auth, webhooks, databases, data modeling)
  • Comfortable writing production-quality scripts/services (Python, JavaScript/TypeScript, SQL/Postgres or similar)
  • Can work with JSON, CSVs, ETL-style transforms, and automation
  • Integration + migration mindset : you enjoy making systems talk to each other, and you can reason about failure modes, retries, rate limits, and observability — and you naturally turn hard-won integration/migration lessons into reusable patterns, tooling, and defaults that make the next implementation smoother than the last.
  • Strong communicator with non-technical stakeholders : you can explain tradeoffs, timelines, and technical concepts in a way that builds trust and clarity.
  • High ownership + project leadership : you can run multiple workstreams, keep stakeholders aligned, and drive to “working in production,” not just “sounds good in a doc.”
  • Product instincts : you spot patterns across host needs, propose scalable solutions, and help evolve the platform rather than endlessly solving the same one-off problem.
  • Startup energy : scrappy, resourceful, energized by ambiguity, and excited to build systems from the ground up.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting a two-sided marketplace or platform business
  • Familiarity with fitness, wellness, events, ticketing, or memberships
  • Experience with internal tooling/automation (Zapier, Airtable etc.)
  • Experience with instrumentation/monitoring or analytics pipelines
  • Experience working directly with external developers (partners, agencies, host tech teams)

Responsibilities

  • Be the technical owner of host success post-sale — ensuring technical discovery, solution design, integration delivery, and long-term reliability for key hosts.
  • Design and build host-specific solutions using APIs, webhooks, OAuth, event-driven patterns, and scripting (Python/JS). This includes prototypes, data transforms, and one-off tooling when needed.
  • Lead complex integrations end-to-end (ticketing/memberships, CRMs, marketing tools, payments, analytics, community platforms, etc.) by translating requirements into technical designs and shipping working implementations, with support of your product and success counterparts.
  • Handle data migrations and data correctness : import/export, mapping, deduping, validation, backfills, and ongoing syncs — with strong attention to integrity and edge cases.
  • Troubleshoot like an engineer : reproduce issues, inspect payloads, debug API/webhook failures, diagnose performance or data issues, and partner with Engineering on fixes.
  • Create scalable technical playbooks : internal docs, reference architectures, reusable scripts, and SOPs that reduce time-to-value and make success delivery repeatable.
  • Partner tightly with Success Managers to run implementations with great communication, crisp next steps, and a “no surprises” experience for hosts.
  • Be the technical voice of the host internally : surface product gaps, integration patterns, and recurring blockers — and help prioritize what Engineering should build to remove them.
  • Define and track implementation/technical success metrics (time-to-first-event, time-to-first-$, integration error rates, data freshness, migration quality, churn risk signals) and use them to drive continuous improvement.
