About The Position

Global businesses face complex tax obligations when selling cross-border, and Fonoa provides a single platform to automate compliance, from validation and tax determination to e-invoicing and returns anywhere in the world. We work with some of the fastest-growing digital companies globally, helping them stay compliant, scale confidently, and focus on growth rather than bureaucracy. As a hands-on Solutions Engineer Manager, you'll lead and scale a high-performing team of Solutions Engineers. Based in NYC, you'll partner closely with our Sales, Product, and Customer Success teams to drive technical excellence and customer outcomes throughout the pre-sales lifecycle.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in technical pre-sales, solutions engineering, or similar roles, including 4+ years in a leadership position.
  • Experience building and scaling SE functions in B2B enterprise SaaS, ideally within fintech, tax tech, or API-driven platforms.
  • Thrive at the intersection of technology and business, and can simplify complex concepts for diverse audiences.
  • Empathetic leader who develops talent, builds trust, and drives results through collaboration.
  • Comfortable in high-growth, fast-paced environments and can balance long-term goals with hands-on execution.
  • Strong communication skills, executive presence, and a track record of influencing technical and commercial decisions.

  • Experience in selling into the office of the CFO or indirect tax.

Responsibilities

  • Operate as a true player/coach supporting Solutions Engineers while personally partnering with Account Executives on enterprise deals.
  • Lead and develop a US-based team of SEs to deliver world-class tax/technical guidance and pre-sales support.
  • Shape and execute the Solutions Engineering strategy to support revenue growth and product adoption.
  • Collaborate with Sales leadership to align SE resources with enterprise opportunities and customer segments.
  • Develop scalable processes, methodologies, and enablement frameworks to drive operational excellence.
  • Support high-impact customer engagements, demonstrating Fonoa’s platform value to technical and business stakeholders.
  • Act as a cross-functional bridge with Product and Engineering teams, translating feedback into product insights.
  • Foster a culture of curiosity, accountability, and continuous learning across the SE organization.
