About The Position

The Solutions Consultant sits at the intersection of sales, benefits strategy, and financial consulting — showing up in prospect meetings to help win new business, guiding clients through the complexity of alternate funding arrangements, and delivering the monthly financial insights that keep plan sponsors informed and in control. This role is built for someone who knows alternate funding inside and out, thrives in front of an executive audience, and can move fluidly between a capabilities presentation in the morning and a stop-loss claims analysis in the afternoon. You’ll work closely with our Partner team on new business pursuits and serve as a trusted advisor to clients navigating some of the most consequential decisions they’ll make about their benefits program. We’re looking for a benefits consultant who is energized by complex problems, values collaboration, and wants to do meaningful work in an environment that rewards expertise.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in employee benefits consulting with hands-on experience in alternate funding strategies, including self-funded, level-funded, captive, and reference-based pricing models
  • Deep understanding of stop-loss markets, underwriting principles, and carrier negotiation — you know how to structure a deal and defend it
  • Experience managing monthly financial reporting and claims utilization analysis, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for clients
  • Proven track record presenting and consulting at the executive and C-suite level — you’re comfortable in a finalist meeting and can hold a room
  • Strong working knowledge of benefit program design and the ability to connect plan structure to client goals
  • Active Health Insurance License required
  • Collaborative by nature — you work well with producers, client success, and ops teams without needing to own every thread
  • Organized and dependable, with strong follow-through on reporting cadences and client deliverables
  • Excellent communicator — written, verbal, and in a slide deck

Responsibilities

  • Participate in prospect meetings at all stages of the sales process, from capabilities presentations through finalist meetings
  • Partner closely with our Producer team to develop tailored solutions and compelling presentation materials
  • Serve as the consultative voice on benefits strategy, funding options, and program design
  • Build credibility with HR leaders and C-suite stakeholders through clear, confident, expert communication
  • Advise prospects and clients on self-funded, level-funded, captive, and reference-based pricing models
  • Evaluate client risk profiles and funding readiness in partnership with carriers and underwriters
  • Coordinate marketing, carrier negotiations, and renewal efforts for alternate funded programs
  • Guide clients through stop-loss renewals, plan design decisions, and mid-year adjustments
  • Stay current on market trends and emerging funding solutions to bring fresh thinking to client conversations
  • Deliver monthly financial reports and claims utilization analysis to applicable clients
  • Identify trends, outliers, and cost drivers in claims data and communicate findings in plain language
  • Partner with Client Success to ensure financial insights are integrated into broader client strategy
  • Drive renewal preparation through data-driven recommendations based on plan performance

Benefits

  • Health & Wellness: Medical insurance, including a $0 premium HDHP plan for individuals, Dental, Vision, Telehealth and Virtual Primary Care Visits, OneMedical membership, Wellhub, and a $50 monthly benefit to improve your mental or physical health.
  • Financial Support: Stock options, 401(k) with a $2,000 match, FSA, HSA, and access to Origin Financial.
  • Work-Life: Flexible PTO, 12 weeks of paid parental leave with 2 weeks of transition time, $50 monthly connectivity reimbursement, and company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance, with additional voluntary benefits like supplemental life, AD&D, hospital indemnity, accident, and critical illness coverage.
  • Professional Support: $1,000 home office setup stipend and access to an Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
