About The Position

Metal Toad is an Advanced AWS Consulting Partner and a professional services firm providing software engineering and cloud services, including technical consulting, programming and quality assurance, DevOps, applications, UX, product management, and project management. The company helps organizations innovate through artificial intelligence, cloud migration, cost optimization, and application modernization, and provides architecture, migration, optimization, machine learning, and 24/7 support.

The mission of the Solutions Architect is to design solutions for sales and help engineering teams construct technical solutions. Solutions should meet client needs and budgets without over-engineering, be cost-optimized to maximize clients’ return on investment, and align stakeholders—from C-suite leaders to developers—through presentation materials and other activities.

The role contributes to all phases of the software development life cycle, including sales, estimating, coding, and program management. It also guides engineering teams toward appropriately sized and cost-effective solutions and supports Metal Toad engineers and the community through at least eight publications or learning events per year. The company is fully remote, but is currently seeking contractors residing in Brazil for this position. Compensation is in Brazilian Reais. Metal Toad cannot sponsor visas for this position.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of programming experience.
• Familiarity with event-oriented application architecture.
• AWS certification, or ability to achieve an AWS certification within 90 days.
• Familiarity with ETL processes and tools.
• Experience with software documentation, including data flow diagrams, data dictionaries, network diagrams, and UML diagrams.
• Reside in Brazil.
• Submit a resume in English as a PDF.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with both backend and frontend programming languages.
• At least 2 years of experience as an architect designing solutions on AWS.
• An AWS Professional or Specialty certification.

Responsibilities

• Design efficient client solutions that meet client needs and budgets without over-engineering.
• Ensure designs are cost-optimized through an appropriate mix of custom development, purchased products, open-source software, and modules to maximize client return on investment.
• Align stakeholders from C-suite leaders to developers by preparing presentation slides, giving presentations, and conducting other activities.
• Create accurate estimates for every ticket to support appropriate resource allocation.
• Guide engineers toward right-sized, cost-effective solutions and help prevent over-engineering.
• Participate in all phases of the software development life cycle, including sales, estimating, coding, and program management, as needed.
• Create project plans and tickets with accurate timelines and budgets.
• Publish or host learning events at least eight times per year, such as blogs, articles, or lunch-and-learns, to guide Metal Toad engineers and the community.
