About The Position

CORMAC is seeking a Solutions Architect to be responsible for defining the end-to-end architecture, technical roadmap, and modernization strategy for a cloud-based CMS data and analytics program. This role ensures all solutions across data ingestion, analytics, metadata management, and user-facing applications are scalable, secure, and aligned with the mission of Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The Solution Architect also leads platform maturity assessments and drives innovation through structured tool evaluation and analytics pilots.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/engineering related or equivalent degree
  • 8+ years of experience in Information Technology (IT) and the software development lifecycle (SDLC)
  • 4+ years of Federal Government proposal solutioning and writing experience
  • 4+ years of AWS Cloud and DevOps experience
  • Strong experience designing and delivering enterprise cloud architecture across data, analytics, and application systems
  • Demonstrated ability to define and manage technical roadmaps in complex enterprise environments
  • Experience conducting maturity assessments and developing capability improvement strategies
  • Hands-on knowledge of data platforms, analytics tools, and integration architectures
  • Experience with Databricks or similar large-scale data/AI platforms
  • Strong understanding of API design, data pipelines, cloud infrastructure, and enterprise security frameworks
  • Ability to evaluate, pilot, and recommend new technologies based on business value and technical feasibility
  • Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and executive presentation skills
  • Experience working in regulated environments with compliance requirements
  • Proven ability to devise software solutions to address both current and future client needs through the innovative use of proven emerging technologies
  • Experience in solution delivery capabilities (i.e., cloud, containers, SaaS)
  • Deep experience with Agile software development methodologies
  • Experience with CI/CD; continuous integration, delivery, and deployment methods
  • Excellent organization, communication, presentation, and writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented work environment, completing multiple complex tasks simultaneously.

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent degree
  • Experience supporting Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services or other federal healthcare programs
  • Certifications such as AWS/Azure/GCP Solutions Architect, TOGAF, SAFe, PMP, or equivalent
  • Experience with enterprise analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, Amazon QuickSight, or similar platforms
  • Familiarity with metadata management, data governance, and cloud modernization initiatives

Responsibilities

  • Design and own the end-to-end solution architecture across cloud data platforms, analytics systems, metadata catalogs, and web-based user portals
  • Define and maintain the technical roadmap, aligning platform evolution with business priorities, modernization goals, and federal compliance requirements
  • Assess current-state architecture maturity across data, analytics, integration, security, and operational capabilities; identify gaps and develop improvement strategies
  • Lead quarterly evaluation and pilot execution of at least one new analytics or data tool, including proof-of-concept design, implementation, and results reporting
  • Translate business and operational requirements into scalable, secure, and cost-effective technical solutions
  • Collaborate with data architects, engineers, business stakeholders, and security teams to ensure cohesive solution delivery
  • Define integration patterns for APIs, ETL/ELT pipelines, real-time data flows, and enterprise reporting systems
  • Support analytics and AI/ML enablement using platforms such as Databricks and other cloud-native tools
  • Ensure alignment with CMS, federal, and healthcare compliance standards including FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST, HIPAA, and Zero Trust principles
  • Develop and maintain architecture artifacts including roadmaps, solution diagrams, capability models, and technical decision records
  • Lead architecture governance sessions, design reviews, and technical advisory discussions with stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies based on value, scalability, and operational impact
  • Support DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure automation strategies across the platform ecosystem
  • Drive continuous improvement in platform performance, usability, data accessibility, and operational efficiency
