About The Position

The Solution Architect serves as a strategic technology leader responsible for designing and delivering scalable, secure, and business-aligned enterprise solutions. This role partners closely with business stakeholders, engineering teams, enterprise architects, and vendors to translate business requirements into end-to-end technical solutions that drive operational efficiency and long-term organizational value. The Solution Architect provides technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, ensuring adherence to architecture standards, governance processes, security requirements, and best practices. This individual plays a key role in shaping technology roadmaps, evaluating emerging technologies, mentoring technical teams, and ensuring solutions are designed to meet both current and future business needs. This is a direct-hire position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 7+ years of experience as a Solution Architect or in a similar enterprise architecture role.
  • Demonstrated progression in technical leadership and increasing levels of responsibility throughout career.
  • Strong expertise across multiple technology domains, including: Cloud platforms, Virtualization, Client/server technologies, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), Software development, Data and database technologies, Networking, Middleware and integration platforms, Storage and infrastructure technologies, Emerging technologies.
  • Strong understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks, methodologies, and best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Proven ability to influence technical and business leaders across all organizational levels.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a related field.
  • Industry certifications in architecture, cloud platforms, security, or related technologies.
  • Experience within the utilities industry or other highly regulated environments.
  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance frameworks and industry standards.
  • Experience with: Service Portfolio Management, Financial Management, Asset Management, High Availability Solutions, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, Enterprise Risk Management.
  • Experience working in Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid delivery environments.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with business stakeholders to understand strategic objectives and translate requirements into scalable technology solutions.
  • Design end-to-end architecture solutions that encompass software, hardware, integrations, infrastructure, security, performance, reliability, scalability, and lifecycle management considerations.
  • Evaluate opportunities to leverage and reuse existing technologies and solutions to maximize efficiency and reduce redundancy.
  • Collaborate with architects, engineers, and technical leaders to establish technology roadmaps, system standards, and architectural direction.
  • Ensure solution designs align with enterprise architecture principles and support both current and future business objectives.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement technologies, platforms, tools, and services that align with business requirements and organizational capabilities.
  • Maintain architecture documentation, including solution diagrams, technical specifications, standards, and design artifacts.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices to drive innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise and strategic guidance on technology investments and architectural decisions.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between business stakeholders, project teams, vendors, and technical organizations.
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Architects, Lead Engineers, and leadership teams to ensure alignment with enterprise strategies, governance frameworks, and technology roadmaps.
  • Build and maintain productive relationships with technology vendors and strategic partners.
  • Participate in financial planning activities, including budget development, resource forecasting, project estimation, and RFP/RFI evaluations.
  • Provide consultative support for complex, non-standard, or emerging business and technology needs.
  • Mentor and develop architects, engineers, and technical team members to strengthen organizational capabilities.
  • Ensure all solutions comply with established technology standards, security policies, and governance requirements.
  • Lead and support architecture review boards, governance committees, and planning processes.
  • Establish and maintain processes that ensure solutions adhere to architectural principles and organizational standards.
  • Review projects and initiatives to ensure alignment with technical strategies and engineering best practices.
  • Partner with architects and engineering leaders to ensure solutions meet non-functional requirements, including: Security, Performance, Reliability, Scalability, Maintainability, Usability, Business Continuity.
  • Contribute to annual budgeting, resource planning, capital forecasting, and technology investment decisions.
  • Monitor budget performance and provide recommendations regarding resource allocation and technology spending.
  • Support organizational goals by aligning technology initiatives with strategic business priorities.
  • Lead initiatives that improve operational effectiveness, technology adoption, and architectural maturity.
  • Drive communication and change management efforts related to technology standards, processes, and best practices.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Promote and support a safety-focused culture within the organization.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
  • Support enterprise risk management initiatives through proactive identification, assessment, mitigation, and monitoring of technology-related risks.
  • Maintain effective cross-functional partnerships to ensure service delivery expectations and organizational objectives are achieved.
