About The Position

OM Group, Inc. is hiring a Technical Solutions Architect to support corporate and contract operations. The role translates customer problems into credible, differentiated technical approaches from initial client conversations through proposal submission. It supports IT modernization, data analytics, and data/application migration work for the U.S. Army and other federal agencies, while working with company leadership to define a technical roadmap, particularly for AI-enabling migration and analytics offerings. The position is remote eligible with up to 25% travel. The architect contributes technical expertise during capture, owns the technical volume during the proposal phase, and helps establish future technical direction. The role also includes technical oversight of contract delivery, described as partially billable or overhead. Compensation is expected to range from $145,000 to $175,000, with the final amount determined by relevant experience, education, skills, certifications, and market conditions. This is a direct-hire position; third-party partnering is not eligible.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years designing and delivering IT modernization, data analytics, or data/application migration solutions.
  • At least 3 years in a role spanning both pre-sales/capture support and proposal technical ownership.
  • Demonstrated experience writing and defending technical proposal volumes for federal contracts, with specific wins where the technical approach was a differentiator.
  • Hands-on depth in cloud migration, data engineering and analytics architecture, and legacy system modernization approaches.
  • Working knowledge of DoD technical environments, security requirements, and acquisition processes; Army experience is especially relevant.
  • Comfort with customer-facing technical conversations and the ability to field challenging questions live.
  • Active or recently active security clearance, or ability to obtain one.
  • Strong technical writing skills, including the ability to produce clear, evaluator-friendly technical narratives under proposal deadlines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with AI/ML-adjacent data engineering, such as data pipelines, labeling and quality processes, or MLOps, applied in a federal or defense context.
  • Prior involvement in an OTA/CSO-based pursuit.
  • Experience building reusable internal technical assets, such as reference architectures and demo environments, rather than producing only one-off proposal content.
  • Prior experience at a small or mid-tier government contractor where technical scope had to be owned without a large supporting architecture team.

Responsibilities

  • Join capture conversations with program offices and prospective customers, answer technical questions in real time, and establish technical credibility.
  • Translate customer pain points surfaced during capture into early technical concepts that differentiate the company.
  • Support pre-RFP intelligence gathering by identifying technical constraints, integration points, and unstated customer risks.
  • Contribute technical input to go/no-go decisions by assessing whether the company can credibly build, staff, and deliver a solution.
  • Own the technical volume once a capture becomes a solicitation, including architecture, delivery methodology, staffing approach, technical risk mitigation, and cost realism.
  • Translate capture win themes into a substantiated, viable technical approach.
  • Partner with the proposal manager on compliance and schedule while retaining final authority over technical content and approach.
  • Represent the company in technical evaluation activities, including demos, orals, and technical exchange meetings.
  • Help define and maintain a technical roadmap for migration and analytics offerings, including making data AI-ready through data quality and labeling for model consumption, MLOps pipelines, and agentic tooling.
  • Identify recurring capability gaps across captures and proposals and develop reusable internal assets such as reference architectures, demo environments, and proof-of-concept tools.
  • Provide technical oversight of contract delivery.
