About The Position

EY’s financial services business unit (“FSO”) is at the forefront of the industry’s major transformations. If you are passionate about combining people, engineering, and technology to solve complex challenges, join our dynamic FSO team! As a Solution Engineering Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary squad to take solutions from discovery and design through production and continuous improvement across full-stack development, APIs and microservices, cloud-native platforms, and generative and agentic AI, with an AI-first mindset and security and responsible AI at the core. While our primary focus is Financial Services, you will have opportunities to support healthcare, automotive, high-tech, and media.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or other related field.
  • 8+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years leading an engineering team or squad.
  • Advanced knowledge of modern Java (preferably Spring) and practical Python for services, automation, or AI integration; proven design of distributed systems using Kafka event-driven architecture and RESTful APIs.
  • Hands-on cloud-native microservices experience (IaaS, PaaS, containers) and end-to-end business-critical integration.
  • Git, CI/CD, automated quality and security checks, and Agile/TDD with automated testing.
  • Generative and agentic AI integration, evaluation, and production monitoring.
  • Proven success applying Spec-Driven Development and operationalizing AI developer tools at squad level with human review and data protection.
  • Stakeholder Negotiation: Balancing velocity, technical debt, and compliance.
  • Architectural Advisory: Presenting ADRs to Architecture Review Boards (ARB).
  • Consultative Problem-Solving: Leading discovery workshops to define technical roadmaps.
  • Ability to prioritize and lead a squad in a fast-paced environment, with travel as required.
  • Excellent written and oral communication, explaining technical trade-offs to non-technical stakeholders; writing, publishing, and conference-level presentation skills a plus.
  • Ability to turn ambiguous business needs into actionable designs and delivery plans.
  • Hands-on engineering judgment to coach engineers through complex design and production issues.
  • Practical, responsible AI judgment balancing speed and value with quality, security, and privacy.
  • Ability to collaborate across product, architecture, cloud, data, quality, and security teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Kafka/RabbitMQ, Elasticsearch, Angular/React/TypeScript, Spark, NoSQL (MongoDB/Cassandra), or comparable tools.
  • Guiding full-stack delivery and willingness to deepen expertise across frontend, backend, cloud, and AI integration.
  • Delivering AI-enabled features or agentic workflows with evaluation and human oversight.
  • Financial Services or other regulated environments (security, auditability, operational resilience).
  • Contributing reusable accelerators, demos, or solution proposals.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a squad of 5–8 engineers building mission-critical financial platforms and AI-enabled client solutions, acting as trusted technical advisor to Product, Business Unit, and Risk/Compliance partners.
  • Own squad execution from requirements and estimation through release, operational handover, and continuous improvement, escalating cross-domain decisions to architecture and delivery leaders.
  • Manage, mentor, and grow 5–8 engineers through 1:1s, performance reviews, and career planning; build AI fluency, support hiring, and foster an inclusive, accountable culture across onshore and global members.
  • Own your pod’s architecture: service boundaries, fault tolerance (circuit breakers, sagas), and Java/Python integration contracts, with explicit NFRs and documented trade-offs aligned with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Advise Product and Business Operations on feasibility, buy-vs-build, and technical debt.
  • Provide early input on regulatory impacts (SOC2, PCI-DSS) as applicable, working with Risk, Compliance, and Security specialists rather than independently determining compliance.
  • Lead discovery workshops and demos, communicating progress, risks, and trade-offs in business terms.
  • Institutionalize SDD governance and agentic code generation with quality and security guardrails, human review, and data/IP protection, measuring cycle time, quality, and reliability rather than code volume.
  • Integrate generative and agentic AI where there is a clear use case, partnering with Data & AI specialists and owning testing, access controls, monitoring, human oversight, latency, and cost.
  • Partner with peer EMs, QA, and Platform teams to de-risk multi-service releases.
  • Lead the squad in delivering new and existing applications, stay hands-on in design and code reviews, manage backlog, capacity, and dependencies, and ensure release readiness, observability, and support handover.
  • Build documented, tested accelerators with Innovation; support proposals, RFPs, demos, prototypes, estimates.
