About The Position

The Hartford is seeking a Solution Architect to lead technological transformation within Middle & Large Business Insurance. This role involves driving innovation, modernizing systems, and championing technology investments that directly impact the underwriter experience. The ideal candidate will be passionate about using emerging technologies to create smarter, faster, and more reliable solutions. This position operates on a Hybrid work schedule, requiring 3 days per week in the office (Charlotte, NC, Columbus, OH, or Hartford, CT).

Requirements

  • 5-8 years of hands-on Solution Architecture experience in an enterprise environment.
  • Strong background in API design, Event-driven architectures, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), and microservices architecture.
  • Practical understanding of AI capabilities, limitations, and ethical implications.
  • Understanding of Business Insurance processes, risk analysis, and regulatory landscape.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate solution recommendations and influence key stakeholders.
  • Passion for emerging technologies and their application in real-world business challenges.
  • Authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Design end-to-end solutions for underwriting and risk assessment.
  • Apply an AI-First Mindset, prioritizing AI solutions over manual or legacy methods.
  • Leverage emerging technologies to create innovative solutions for complex, real-world problems.
  • Collaborate with data scientists, engineers, and business leaders to translate requirements into scalable architectures.
  • Ensure adherence to best practices for data governance, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Build modular, cloud-native architectures that are adaptable to evolving business needs and technologies.
