About The Position

The Solution Architect is a strategic leadership role responsible for the end-to-end design and realization of a comprehensive supply chain solution portfolio. Acting as the critical bridge between complex global planning and analytics challenges and technical implementations, the SA ensures that supply chain systems, shared infrastructure, and technology solutions align with the organization’s long-term "To-Be" vision. This is a hybrid role based at 345 N Morgan St, Chicago, IL 60607. Candidates must reside in the Chicago metropolitan area. Relocation assistance is not offered at this time.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, System Analysis, or a related field (master’s degree preferred).
  • 6+ years in several IT disciplines (e.g., Application Development, Integration, Middleware, Cloud Architecture, or Data and Analytics).
  • Deep understanding of supply chain planning processes and the enterprise platforms that support them.
  • Proven capability in statistical forecasting and enabling ML-driven forecasting solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with data platforms, including warehouses, lakehouses, data transformation pipelines, and MDM.
  • Strong knowledge of integration patterns (APIs, event streaming, MFT) and experience with iPaaS/middleware solutions in complex B2B ecosystems.
  • Solid experience across major cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP), designing scalable, cloud-native architectures.
  • Expertise in designing for performance, scalability, resilience, security, and cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Architectural Translation: Convert high-level business requirements and value streams into actionable technical blueprints.
  • Product Lifecycle Alignment: Partner with Product Owners and Solution Owners to maintain a robust architectural runway that supports future feature sets without accumulating excessive technical debt.
  • Impact Assessment: Evaluate how proposed changes affect business capabilities and current-state processes to ensure targeted business outcomes are met.
  • Portfolio Health: Monitor the solution ecosystem to identify misalignment, aging technologies, or critical deficiencies in legacy systems.
  • Modernization & Retirement: Lead "Keep vs. Retire" assessments, supporting Product Managers in decommissioning end-of-life systems and transitioning to modern stacks, in partnership with market technology leads.
  • Innovation & R&D: Analyze emerging market trends (AI/ML, Edge, etc.) and perform Proof-of-Concept (PoC) implementations to determine their practical application to the business model.
  • Cross-Domain Design: Lead the evaluation and design of architecture spanning multiple applications, ensuring consistency across cloud, on-prem, and hybrid environments. Collaborate with solution owners to ensure design consistency across the technology landscape, at varying levels of details.
  • Strategic Road Mapping: Develop and maintain the evolution roadmap from current-state to future-state architecture.
  • Agile Integration: Provide high-level consultancy to decentralized Agile teams, ensuring individual product designs roll up into a cohesive enterprise strategy.
  • Standards Leadership: Define principles, guidelines, and reference patterns (UML/ArchiMate) to streamline decision-making, in close collaboration with Enterprise Architecture and the Technical Review Board.
  • Compliance & Assurance: Direct governance activities to ensure all solution designs meet security, privacy, and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible AI Governance: Ensure AI‑enabled solutions comply with enterprise standards for security, privacy, data governance, explainability, and ethical use of AI, aligned with internal policies and external regulatory requirements.
  • Community of Practice (CoP): Foster a culture of architectural excellence by mentoring solution owners and lead developers.
