Senior/Principal Solution Architect - Identity & Governance
About The Position
Workday is seeking an experienced technologist focused on Identity Governance to join its Solution Consulting - Global Solution Architecture team. The team works across Sales, Product, and Marketing to showcase Workday solutions and create innovative demonstrations that help customers understand their business value. The role develops demo solutions and prototypes that showcase Workday’s Identity platform, learns new product functionality, and delivers training to Solution Consultant and Enterprise Architect Solution Consulting teams. It presents solutions to internal and external audiences, collaborates across functions, improves the efficiency and scalability of demo-platform development and deployment, and provides thought leadership and demo content to the Presales community. The role requires quarterly travel for team meetings and Presales/Sales events. Workday’s flexible-work approach requires spending at least 50% of time each quarter in an office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners, depending on the role. Compensation varies by location and may include eligibility for a bonus or commission and annual refresh stock grants.
Requirements
- For the Senior Solution Architect level: 4 or more years in technical presales, solutions engineering, or an identity architect role, or equivalent hands-on IAM/IGA experience.
- For the Principal Solution Architect level: 7 or more years in technical presales, solutions engineering, or an identity architect role, or equivalent hands-on IAM/IGA experience.
- For the Senior Solution Architect level: 4 or more years of experience with authentication and authorization frameworks, MFA, step-up authentication, conditional access, least privilege, and Zero Trust.
- For the Principal Solution Architect level: 7 or more years of experience with authentication and authorization frameworks, MFA, step-up authentication, conditional access, least privilege, and Zero Trust.
- Knowledge of directory services, including Okta, Azure AD/Entra ID, LDAP, Google Workspace, and on-premises Active Directory.
- Hands-on cloud experience with AWS IAM/IAM Identity Center, GCP IAM, and Azure AD/role-based access models, including governing them with IGA.
- Comfort with Go, APIs, SDKs, JSON/YAML, scripting, automation, and Terraform or similar infrastructure-as-code tools.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with people at all levels and with varying technical ability.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a passion for troubleshooting and problem solving.
- Ability and willingness to learn and absorb new technology and features effectively.
- Ability to work autonomously, find workarounds and solutions, and recognize when to ask for help.
- Resilience when faced with tight resolution timeframes and conflicting or opposing priorities.
- Ability to establish relationships across the organization and company to continually improve customer service.
- Must be open to quarterly travel for team meetings and Presales/Sales events.

Responsibilities
- Develop compelling demo solutions that showcase the Workday Identity platform.
- Prototype use cases enabled by Workday products, tools, and technology.
- Proactively learn the functionality of new Workday product updates.
- Deliver enablement and training to Solution Consultant and Enterprise Architect Solution Consulting teams.
- Present solutions to internal Workday audiences and external audiences at marketing events.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and build connections that accelerate projects and initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for operational efficiency and scale the build and deployment process for demo-platform solutions.
- Provide thought leadership, innovation, and relevant demo content to the Presales community to support effective customer and prospect demonstrations.
